Community Service Opportunities
Looking for a great way to get your Gorzycki Tiger or an entire group volunteering in the community?! Check out these great opportunities below! Remember to review the requirements needed to participate as well.
1. Who: Meals On Wheels and More
What: Volunteer in one of their many programs, not just meal delivery. There is also Groceries to Go and Handy Wheels (which can include yardwork). Students need parent transportation/participation, but the students can be very involved in the work.

Requirements: Before becoming a volunteer, your family must speak with a volunteer coordinator, fill out an application, provide copies of both your parents’ driver license and car insurance, and allow them to run a criminal background check. You must also attend a short orientation session.

2. Who: Capital Area Foodbank
What: Sorting donations in our Product Recovery warehouse givesyou a "behind-the-scenes" look at how donations from the communityget to hungry Central Texans. Volunteers inspect, clean, sort, box and make donations ready for distribution to Partner Agencies and their clients.

When: Youth and Family Night - Youth ages 8 to 17 and their families are invited to volunteer on the first Tuesday of the month from 6 - 8 p.m.

3. Who: Austin Animal Services Office
What: Customer Greeters, Dog Wellness, Cat Socialization, Outreach Volunteer or Office Assistant

Requirements: Complete a criminal background investigation, complete a fingerprint scan (those who have lived outside Texas in the last 10 years); be at least 13 years of age with an adult of 21+ enrolling as a volunteer with you, individuals who enroll as a volunteer are expected to contribute a minimum of six hours a month; must attend a volunteer orientation.
4. Who: Keep Austin Beautiful
What: Group can host a cleanup at your school, business, street, neighborhood, or park; your group can host a creek cleanup; specific service projects that are KAB-led :typically for groups of 35+ volunteers, last 2-4 hours, and focus on restoration or cleanup efforts in Austin’s beautiful nature preserves.
